Before the session
As you need to disrobe in the locker room, with robes, slippers, a shower or a sauna you can use, and a medical history form to read and sign, 15 minutes is enough.
What Should I Get At The Spa? - How to choose what service I want?
If you're a beginner, a Relaxing Aromatherapy massage is a good place to start, as it is a gentle full body massage.
Or you can get a facial massage or treatment.
If you're more advanced, you might want to try different treatments like a Deep Tissue massage, which is more therapeutic for the muscles.
Shiatsu & Thai massage work double, both on your physical body and also your energy.
Male or female therapist?
It's up to you. We make every effort to accommodate guest wishes in this regard. Keep in mind that at peak hours, it may be harder to fulfil your request, and that for less-requested treatments, the spa may have only one therapist available.
Remember to book in advance; if you are a fan of a particular therapist, chances are someone else is as well.
During the session
A traditional Swedish massage (Relaxing, Deep Tissue) is usually done without any clothes, but if you’re more comfortable keeping your underwear on during a massage, that’s fine.
There are also many spa treatments where you can keep your clothes on, including Reiki, Craniosacral therapy, Thai foot Reflexology and Zen Shiatsu, Thai Massage.
You can also get a facial and leave your robe on, though it constricts what the therapist can do somewhat.
If you have concerns about being seen naked by the therapist during a massage, you should know two things.
First, you remove your robe or street clothes and get underneath a sheet and blanket or towel while the therapist is out of the room. They knock before reentering the room.
Second, you are covered with a sheet or large towel at all times and only the part of the body being massaged is exposed.
Do I have to listen to that relaxing music in the spa, with all these candles around and that Lavender smell?
All aspects of treatment can be modified to your taste: amount of light, music selection and volume, room temperature, talking or no talking.
If you would like for the pressure of your massage to be adjusted, let your therapist know.
Also, feel free to ask questions. If any part of your experience is unsatisfactory, first tell the therapist. If the response isn't helpful, speak to the manager, if available.
After the session
You loved your spa treatment. Now what? How much do you tip? Is it included?
In Zen Spa we don't add a spa tip or "service fee" onto the massage or facial, so you don't have to worry about it. However, if you think you received exceptional service, you can give the therapist additional money in the treatment room.
Tipping is not expected, but it is still very much appreciated.
Mixing activities and spa-going
On the day of treatment, try to stay out of the sun and avoid alcoholic beverages. Also, don't schedule a physically demanding endeavor after a spa appointment. Keep the relaxed feeling you enjoyed at the spa long after you leave!
After a massage session, we suggest you leave the oils on your skin for up to 2 hours before taking a shower so that your skin fully absorbs the oils' properties. We use mostly organic essential Aromatherapy oils.
We look forward to giving you the gift of touch. Be well
